Secret Falls Trailhead
The Secret Falls Trailhead is located along the bank of the Wailua River on the east side of Kauai.
Access to the Secret Falls Trailhead is via the river, so you will kayak or stand-up paddleboard to it, making for an exciting two-in-one excursion.
From the launching area at or near the Wailua River Marina, you will paddle for about two miles up the river to arrive at the beach for pulling up your kayak or board.
Paddle upstream until you come to the fork in the river, and at the fork, take the right fork (north). You will come to the beach (where the trailhead begins) in about 10 minutes after you take the fork.
The beach area where you should pull up is quite obvious, even if you do not already see kayaks lying on the shore.
The trail begins at this beach area. Depending on where exactly you pull your kayak up, you may need to walk along the river bank a little bit to see the trailhead. But the trail is clear and well-marked.
If you join a guided tour, you can simply follow the guide to the trailhead. If you plan to rent a kayak or stand-up paddleboard and head to the trailhead on your own, get a map from the outfit where you rent the equipment.
